The best part of this hotel is the proximity to the art museums. In addition, there are several good restaurants within a few blocks and the area is pretty and very quiet. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and bus schedules. Breakfast staff was good, too.
This hotel is badly in need of a renovation. Chairs in our room were more than threadbare with the upholstery torn open in several places. The balcony was covered with moss and the shower had a lot of mold in it. The hairdryer is bolted to a desk drawer in the bedroom and had to be stretched to the limit in order to see the mirror while using it. In general, the room was quite shabby.
Great location - only a short walk into the centre. Good comfortable beds, clean towels daily nice garden to sit and have a drink. There is no bar but you can take your own. The supermarket is 5 minutes away. Vondelpark 5 minutes away. Breakfast if quite good and relaxed. I have been to this hotel 3 times and would recommend.
The property is very dated but it doesn't matter its a great base. Because of this the toilet is smelly again due to age I think. If you like tea or coffee take a travel kettle as the don't have one in the room, but they do have an hairdryer.
We have never seen whorst service in an hotel ever. The staff didn't know anything at didn't show any interest. Small rooms, questionable cleaning.
Good location, quiet, near tram station; comfortable medium-size room with all usual facilities; satisfactory breakfast (self-service) with good range of foods and drinks.
The room was cold; the weather was unseasonably cold but the heating had not been turned on. The Twin Comfort room 61 is next to the reception desk on the ground floor, so conversations at the reception desk could be heard in the room. Rooms upstairs wouldn't have this problem.
The hotel was convenient for museums, rams and the city centre. The breakfast was adequate.
The room was a little cramped and could have appeared cleaner.
The hotel was just a short walk to the tram stops. The room was small, but the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and always anxious to answer any questions. The breakfast was included with the room and it was very good.
very nice, small and lovely hotel. quiet and calm. brekfest is very tasty.
the prices in the bar could be smaller, and if i didnt have dinner i would like to have it in hotel, not for free of course, but it would be good to have such option.
Location and access to public transport
Lobby and entrance not very inspiring
Excellent location....walking distance to museums and Vondel park, 2-3 short blocks from 2 different tram lines that take you to both sides of the city. Lovely shaded square with restaurants. Full breakfast (eggs, meat, cheese, fruit, cereal, tea/coffee). Private courtyard with flowers. Comfortable rooms with AC and refrigerator in ours...maybe not all tho. Owner bought more internet equipment while we were there when folks complained about the slow wi-fi. Was fine when we left. Art deco wood paneling in elevator and along our hall. Cute little shower with doors that closed. Americans, this is not a Holiday Inn....but it is a charming quirky European hotel.
Paying with Visa led to a 4% charge that I was not expecting. Otherwise only minor items. Owner explained that it would take him and his partner a few more months to get the hotel up to his standards...could not do everything at once. Some linens were a bit worn, some were brand new. Most of the staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful. One night clerk was indifferent....required 3 questions and finally a "Could you please look it up?" to get the information needed. Generally an excellent experience.
We were lucky enough to have a view out to the back garden which was gorgeous . Although in the city the hotel is in a quiet street and feels calm and cosy. Bus to AK
The breakfast was advertised as a full English but wasn't. Still filling though , just not as described.
Quiet area but from walking distance from museums and party areas. Tram stop also very close. Friendly staff. Our room was on the first floor, so in the summer you can step outside to small garden.
It situated not far from center, in very peaceful district, near (about 5-10 minutes walk) with two main (my oppinion) museums: Van Gog's museum & Reijh museum. There is a pretty nice garden inside of hotel with comfortable benches&chairs which help to spend a lot of easy time). Big thanks&best regards to owner! Thanks for charcoal! He&his staff are very hospitable.
only one, not enough speed of internet connection.
The breakfast is good for European 3-star hotel. Although the room was next to the hotel reception it was quiet because of a double door. The location is good, the hotel is next to Van Gogh museum.
In the evening there was no open bar in the hotel so it was impossible to have a cap of tea.
Stay was good. Cleanliness ok. Could visit again because price/location is very good. Breakfast can be improved. Not much range and not warm.
that there was a lift - difficult to find hotel with lift in amsterdam. some staff - female receptionists very helpful
rudeness of male receptionists
